Sheila D. Sayne was born in Seminole, Oklahoma. She earned her bachelor of science degree, magna cum laude, from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1996 and her law degree from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida in 2006.  While attending Stetson, Sheila studied corporate law and civil litigation and served as a Student Bar Association representative. She is a member of Stetson’s inaugural part-time class and worked full time as a civil litigation legal assistant during law school.  Sheila also participated in a legal internship at Gulfcoast Legal Services representing domestic violence victims in family law matters.

Sheila is admitted to practice in the State of Florida and before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She serves on the Steering Committee of the ABA Forum on the Construction Industry’s Specialty Trade Contractors & Suppliers Division and is a member of the ABA Litigation Section’s Construction Litigation Subcommittee.  Sheila belongs to the Construction Law Committee of the Florida Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, the St. Petersburg Bar Association, and the Clearwater Bar Association.

 
         
 

In 2008, the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry recognized Sheila’s commitment to representing construction industry clients by awarding her a three-year fellowship.

Sheila comes from a family of pioneers, ranchers, and . . . lawyers!  Sheila’s father retired to his working cattle ranch after serving five terms as the District Attorney of Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. Sheila exchanged cowboy hats for hard hats when she married Gary, an electrical contractor who specializes in energy management solutions. Sheila and Gary enjoy coastal living and spend their leisure time camping, kayaking, swimming, and hiking.  Sheila’s interests include art, literature, film, and music.  Sheila has two sons - Jeff works in television studio production and John is a musician.
